HelenBilt — Custom Lighting Designer Residential. Retail. Restaurants.

HelenBilt is a custom lighting designer based in Sag Harbor, New York, working with clients across the East End, nationally, and internationally. Each fixture is designed and hand-fabricated locally, built to fit the scale, materials, and light of the specific room it lives in. From residential homes to retail spaces and restaurants, HelenBilt approaches every project as a collaboration, starting with a conversation and ending with a piece no one else has.

LIGHTING DESIGN

Always Custom.

HelenBilt doesn't sell off the shelf. Every piece is drawn, fabricated, and installed with the space — and the people in it — firmly in mind. The result is lighting that feels less like a product and more like a part of the room it was made for.

Three signature collections — the Urchin, the Concord, and the blown-glass Vidro — anchor a practice built entirely around the custom commission.

Always Perfect.

OUR WORK

RESIDENTIAL LIGHTING

From the entryway to the library, we work directly with homeowners and their designers to create pieces that feel inevitable.

that tells your home's story

Modern living room with a gray stone fireplace, mounted flat-screen TV, two white armchairs, and blue and gray chairs around a round coffee table with a floral centerpiece. Art posters are on the white walls, and a chandelier with multiple white spherical fixtures hangs from the ceiling.

RETAIL LIGHTING

Retail lighting is theater. We help brands shape the way a customer feels the moment they walk in — and long after they leave.

That Makes Your Product Shine

RESTAURANT LIGHTING

Fixtures that set the scene

The right fixture can change how a table feels at 8 pm. We've lit dining rooms that diners remember as warmly as the meal.

SUSTAINABLE LIGHTING CREATION

By East End Artisans

Sustainability at HelenBilt is not a policy — it is the architecture of how every piece is made. Repurposed incandescent bulbs reduce environmental impact from the very first element, paired with recycled steel and glass throughout the fabrication process.

Each fixture begins with hand-drawn sketches and site-specific photography before Helen collaborates with a carefully chosen circle of East End artisans and craftsmen — all within a 15-mile radius of her Sag Harbor studio. Helen rides her bicycle to most design meetings, and runs HelenBilt as a live-work studio to further reduce the carbon footprint of the practice.

The result is a limited-production facility dedicated to sourcing locally, manufacturing responsibly, and utilizing recycled or repurposed materials at every stage. In an industry where luxury and conscience rarely share the same room, HelenBilt proves they were always meant to hang together.
